The Catholic Cemeteries of Chicago are the largest private cemetery system in the United States with 47 cemeteries throughout Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois and are looking for dedicated, talented and compassionate individuals to become part of our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist with identifying the needs for services and goods in all parts of the organization, and ensure the satisfaction of those needs, and recommend policy changes where desirable.

· Assist with researching various products, services and materials and presenting effective comparisons of benefits, drawbacks and overall value to stakeholders.

· Assist with coordinating the delivery and receipt of items purchased for various locations and coordinate resources from various departments to efficiently execute that with a minimal disruption of normal workflow.

· Assist with the annual financial audit in accounts payable and maintain/update vendor lists.

· Assist with recording requisitions and preparing purchase specifications and orders as needed.

· Assist with soliciting, negotiating to optimize value, tabulating and awarding bids and to maintain an open commitment file.

· Assist with monitoring existing vendor contracts to verify compliance with contract terms and conditions.

· Assist with initiating and maintaining effective and professional relationships with actual and potential suppliers.

· Assist with maintaining business licenses and fire alarm permits for various locations.

· Assist with collaborating with other supervisory staff in developing improved procedures for effective and economical purchasing, as well as coordinating, scheduling and expediting deliveries.

· Assist with preparing and overseeing the budget for bulk purchases, contracts, and capital and maintenance projects.

· Assist with the evaluation and approval of outer burial containers and maintain such files as needed.

· Assist with preparation of required reports and other duties as necessary.

· Assist with handling the financial and insurance administration of cemetery and non-cemetery property including all matters relating to taxation of property, creation and administration of leaseholds, special farm property valuation, and all records pertaining to these items.

· Assist with the organizing, planning and developing the activities needed to secure the services and goods as needed at the lowest possible cost, considering the guidelines for pricing, service, quality and delivery.

· Assist with the administration of the financial and insurance needs pertaining to the use of cemetery and non-cemetery property.

· Assist with the administration of the property and liability insurance programs and maintain files on accidents and injuries not related to cemetery personnel.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Attention to detail, demonstrated history of setting and achieving goals, and analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.

· Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form with vendors, lessees and cemetery employees at all levels.

· Knowledge of the equipment, material, supplies and services required for the effective operations of the Catholic Cemeteries.

· Ability to work effectively with colleagues and accept supervision from all levels of management.

· Experience with computers, including the ability to use the required accounting software and Excel.

· Ability to fulfill the five-day workweek and the established hours of the position.

· Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bending or stooping occasionally, and navigate stairs on an occasional basis. File documents on an occasional basis.

· Practicing Catholic with a Catholic educational background preferred and familiarity with Catholic teachings and traditions.

· At least five years of increasingly responsible experience involving purchasing or comparable functions, including at least three years at a supervisory level.

· College graduate with a major in accounting, business management or a related field, or equivalent certification or work experience.

· Knowledge of accounting, financial and insurance principles related to purchasing equipment, supplies and property.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $61,500.00 - $85,000.00 per year
